| | Description | For Personal Light Anywhere, that won't disturb others. This hands free light delivers versatility and features unmatched by other portable lights: extra wide & bright light from 6 LEDs, longer battery life, 2 clip-on filters, clip on magnifier, and optional AC & DC power adapters. Read Everything: It's a true reading light that works with all Kindles and other eReaders, printed books, PLUS newspapers, loose documents, maps and other material that can't support a clip-on book light. Worn around the neck, it shines a cool & steady light for reading, quilting, knitting, all needlework & crafts, and searching a dark basement. Use it for writing journals, working, camping, and changing diapers at night. The extra bright light is helpful for those with aging eyes. The long battery life is especially valuable during a power outage and when traveling. No wonder one reviewer called it the "best Amazon Kindle reading light" and also "by far the best personal reading light we have come across". Other critics rave as well. The BNR LED 6-3 features 6 bright energy saving LEDs in a row for an extra wide but still personal light and a switch that lets you light just 3 LEDs. 4 standard alkaline AA batteries (not included) will last at full brightness for 50 hours using all 6 LEDs or 100 hours when using 3 LEDs . Kit includes 2 clip-on filters: orange for a softer light and to reduce blue light; red to reduce ambient light for sensitive bed partners or to help maintain night vision. Also 1 large 4x5 inch lightweight acrylic clip-on Fresnel magnifier. The magnifier is a useful accessory for short periods of detail work for those with normal vision and is not a low vision aid. Optional AC and vehicle DC power adapters also available. The Beam N Read family of Hands Free Lights also includes the BNR LED 3 with 3 long lasting LEDs, batteries & 1 filter; LED 103m with 3 LEDs and 3 clip-on Magnifiers; LED 6 w4F with 6 LEDs and 4 colored filters, and the LED P with 6 red LEDs. | |

This light works for needlepoint--subtle color differences can be seen. Feb 15, 2009

I am able to make significant progress on a needlepoint picture because this light is as good as daylight in working on my project. Before I purchased this light, I had to lay my picture aside when the sun went down.

great needlework light Dec 14, 2009
By Knitting Maven I am an avid knitter (at least 1 hour every day) and I consider my Beam N Read LED 6 as important as the knitting needles themselves. I keep one in my knitting bag and use it whenever and wherever I knit. Even if I am next to a good table lamp, my Beam N Read gives me better and stronger light directly on my work. Visualize a group of knitters or quilters gathered to chat and work--with the Beam N Read each person can have her own good, strong light focused on her work without regard to where table or floor lamps may be. This is a real winner for anyone who does needlework. Not for Everyone Nov 11, 2010
By Marie D. Cummings

I bought this product mainly for the hands-free magnifier so I could start cross-stitching again. The neck strap was too short, I could not keep it positioned where I wanted it on my chest, so the light shone more into my chest than down onto my stitching, and the magnifier actually made it harder for me to see my work.
I was contacted by email by the VP of the company, who asked me to edit my original review (which I have done in the paragraph above) because he thought it was unfair and suggested that I have vision problems. For the record, I have NORMAL VISION. In fact, maybe my vision is too good for this product. After years of being 20/15 or better, my vision is now a "mere" 20/20. Perhaps I require less magnification than this product offers.
I will not dispute that for many, this is a great product, but for me, it was not. Is this not the whole reason that amazon allows us to review products?? How else will other 5'10" women with good vision know that this may not work for them?

Best Booklight Nov 30, 2008
By Kathleen Kessler I love this booklight! Whenever my husband and I drive someplace, I bring my book along and he always complains about the light. But this booklight shines directly on the pages. It hangs around your neck so you don't have to keep adjusting it like you do with a clipon. It's also great if you like to read in bed.

Good book light Mar 10, 2010
By Adam Helberg I'm using this with NiMH batteries to read in bed. The light hangs on your neck and sits on your chest and overall it works well.
My criticisms are 1: it's a bit on the heavy side--with today's LEDs it should work with AAA batteries. 2: I wish the light could pivot upward more. 3: It comes with a yellow filter meant to soften the bluish LED light and I wish the filter would be a little whiter to allow more light to pass through.
