5Great head light. Fixed all previous problems with other lights  Jun 29, 2010 By Richard Stone "Layfull"
This is a great light that I use for night exercise. It's very bright, has different settings (red, spot, flood, spot & flood). In the dark, I use spot&flood, but at dusk I use red so that cars see me.

Previously, these Energizer lights shown in your eyes and blinded you so that I had to add duct tape to bottom. This one fixed that problem.

Also, they made red the first setting, so that you don't kill your night vision when turning it on.

Highly recommended.

3Very bright, but not nearly as good as a petzl  Jul 28, 2011 By A. Hynes "Rural Resident"
I've sampled a fair variety of headlamps thanks to years spent aboard a commercial fishing boat, and this is my latest one.

Likes:

Very bright with all LEDs on
Red LED night vision saver (fantastic for use on late night watches!)
Uses regular AAAs
Fairly long battery life
All weight on one side (no battery pack separate from the light itself)
Cheap

Dislikes:

Not as comfortable as many models, especially those designed for backpacking.
When you leave it on for awhile, it still requires you to cycle through all the modes to turn off. My old PrincetonTec and Petzl lights all used a single button push to turn off if you had kept it on one mode for longer than about 30 seconds. Surprisingly, I really miss this feature.

5headlight or taillight  Dec 04, 2010 By Farah
I was hesitant, without actually seeing the red light, or brightness of the white lights, to purchase this item. But boy, am I GLAD I did!!

The red light as the first setting is perfect! It let's you have illumination without toasting your retinas in real darkness. And the headband tightens securely about the head, though I've also loosened it and worn it around my waist as a "taillight" while jogging on my country road.

Either way, a great purchase. I also love that it takes batteries I can easily locate in the store. Built tough, this little gem.

5Deployed in the Dark  Feb 13, 2011 By Michael
Currently deployed to afgahnastan doing aircraft maintenance.. with almost no lights in my work area at night. This is working out great. The red light is good for moving arround my room without disturbing my room mate.. yet bright enough I can acutally see what I am doing. The other three light modes have worked wonderful for working on the aircraft. I can see everything I am working on.. even if it's doing an inspection on something far away. I still have good visabiltiy.. only bad part is the switch is hard to use with gloves on.. but not bad for the price and what you get..

5Beacon Head !!  Mar 24, 2011 By Cyclist01222 "Paul"
That's what your friends will call you with this thing on your beannie. Mine is orange colord. I've had this lamp for two years now and it has been great! The description here is accurate and it works as advertised. I even strap it to my front bike rack to light the road before me. Love the orange coloring... makes it easy to find. At camp I hang it from a tree branch to act as a lantern. I like to keep a ball cap under it to prevent glare from my glasses. The flood mode is more than sufficient for me and the Alkaline batts will last more than 30 hours. The beams are white with no distortion and good spill light in flood mode. It's nice that the red LED's are cycled through first and full spot and flood last. This product is well made including the head strap and a good deal at under 20 bucks.
