4Now that it's assembled and charged up  Jul 01, 2010 By Teresa L Sample
Even though the bike was well packaged for shipping, some small parts had fallen off of the handlebar assembly. I had to take it to a bike shop so a professional could figure out where all the loose parts went. That cost me an additional $30.00. The manual that came with the bike is very difficult to figure out and the pictures are too small to see any details. There is no number to call for help from the manufacturer either. Also, make sure you check to make sure there is a fuse in place because the battery won't charge if there is no fuse. Now that the e-bike is assembled correctly and charged up, it is a lot of fun. It's surprisingly powerful. It has 2 electric settings: pedal assisted propulsion and all electric propulsion. Using the pedal assist saves battery and lengthens your ride. It's a wonderful bike, but be prepared for a few problems to get it working properly.

1save your money!  Sep 26, 2010 By tsand
I only had this bike for 2 weeks and sent it back. First let me say it was missing parts when I got so I had to rig it...pain in the butt! Second we bought this bike so I could ride it to work which is about 12 miles total and after the first ride it wouldn't hold a charge. The peddles and wheels are to small for an adult and will smoke your legs unless of course you use the electric only. The seat vs. the handle bars is stupid! the seat is so tall it makes it hard to hold the handlebars and doesn't adjust. I rode it 3 times in one week and 2 the second and parts began to fall off and the battery decided it was going to only connect when it wanted to.If you are looking for an ebike I would say look somewhere else because this bike is poorly constructed and has many many flaws. If you do decide to by it good luck and make sure you check to see how long you have to try it out and return it so you don't get stuck with a 600 bike that is falling apart!

3Thoughts After A Month  Jan 10, 2011 By Guy Secretan
Bought this thing on a whim after looking at several much more expensive Li-ion models (Ecobike Vatavio, Ezee Quando). I figured I'd trade more weight with the older battery technology (the lead acid battery in this thing weighs 30 pounds!) for the much lower cost. I'm going to give you all the bad first:

This thing came to me in pretty bad shape. The brakes were completely messed up, inhibiting both wheels even with no pressure on the handles. Various small pieces had fallen off from various places. I managed to get everything back to where it was supposed to be and I paid a bike shop to fix the brakes.

If you buy this bike, make sure that you tighten up all of the hardware on it before you ride for the first time. It's well engineered, but rather poorly assembled. I managed to break off one of the pedals and strip the bolt on my 3rd ride because I was too lazy to spend 10 minutes tightening everything when I first got the bike. I fixed it with JB Weld, but I wish I had been smart.

It's lucky that I like to tinker or I probably would have sent this back. One of the inexplicable TWO keyed ignition switches broke (the one on the battery itself), so I replaced it with a toggle. It's much more convenient to only have to turn one key to turn on the bike instead of two.

So, how does it ride. Well, it is not very maneuverable what with weighing 80 pounds and having 16 inch wheels, and I wouldn't want to hop curbs with it. It works best on smoothly paved surfaces. Those tiny wheels are a curse and a blessing. The small wheelbase gives the bike a fair amount of torque with which to climb hills. Unfortunately, climbing a steep hill at 8-10 mph is one of the only times that you can successfully pedal with the bike. Because there is no gearing and the wheels are so small, any time you are on the flat and you open the throttle, it is impossible to reach a comfortable cadence on the pedals. You simply can't pedal fast enough to be of assistance if you want to go full speed (16-20 mph). I would class this as a mostly electric only vehicle with some minor amount of pedal assist when accelerating from a stop or hill climbing.

The battery is holding up nicely for now. I've disassembled it (I had to when I installed the toggle switch), and it just contains 3 cheap hobby SLA's, so when I need to replace it, I'll just wire in new ones. I haven't gotten to the end of the battery's range yet, but I've traveled 10-12 miles and the gauge still reads full. Something to watch out for is that when it's really cold, the battery won't work as well.

I'm a large guy (250 pounds) and the bike can pull me up a moderate grade at 8-10 mph with no assist from me. I've tackled some steeper grades with pedal assist and found them manageable. This thing is built for the Asian market, so the motor is not especially powerful, but I'm rather impressed by how well it flattens out grades. If you weigh a fair bit less than me, I think you might be able to climb quite a bit faster.

One last thing about the bike is that it folds up, and I find that I am just barely able to fit it in my trunk. I like that a shorter chain can go through the frame and both wheels when securing it.

Anyway, I give this bike a tentative recommendation, but be prepared to do some tinkering initially.

4Decent & fun e-bike for the money  Aug 09, 2011 By RVM
I've been riding this bike to and from work for 3 months and really like it. I knew that I wasn't getting the best e-bike in the world, but the price allowed me to give it a try and see whether I would enjoy and adapt to riding my bike instead of driving. And I HAVE definitely enjoyed the experience. And my gasoline bill has gone down. And, because it looks so different from other bikes, it's a real conversation starter.

As others have said, the manual provided in the box is disappointing. There is, however, a much better manual online:[..]. It was helpful to me to read other reviews to know that the battery's fuse had to be installed before it would take a charge. I didn't have any missing parts, though, as others have reported. The brakes required a fair amount of adjustment to work reasonably well. And, as others have reported, some bolts benefit from frequent tightening. I replaced the handlebars so that I could sit in a more upright position.
