BEST I'VE TRIED Jan 06, 2009
By Jakes Having owwned Mini Mag LED AA and Inova XO3, I can tell you that this flashlight is much better than the Mini and close to the XO3.(But the XO3 it is much more expensive however, and uses CR123 batteries, also more expensive than AAs)
PROs: -Super tough -Super bright -AAs -Push or locked on button -clip for using with a cap or pocket -very strong -shorter than Mini Mag LED -comes with a removable strap -won't roll when put on table for example (like Minis)
CONS: -Beam not adjustable -Not completely water proof
SUMMARY: Best cost-benefit AA flashlight I've tried. Super bright and tough, full of features.

Worth 10 times what you pay! Sep 23, 2007
By Zulu45 Not to be insulting, but Rayovac hasn't always been up-to-date on led technology, but they break the mold with this one, as they unveil their enterance into the high power LED world. Personally, I feel that their LED line is what is hurting the new Mini-MagLEDs. Pretty much this is a rebranded Nuwai X-3, same as the River Rock 3W light found at Target, and same as the Rayovac Sportsman Extreme 3W light found at Wal-Mart. It gives amazing light, and has amazing regulation when using NiMH batteries. To the casual flashlight users, regulation means that you get a more constant level of brightness throughout the battery life. Where a standard light would dim quickly, regulation allows a flashlight to stay bright.
This light gives blinding light, light that you would not expect from a light it's size, especially one that runs on AA batteries. It is built like a tank, and is very easy to use. Twist to turn on, and a momentary button which you can push for sudden light for a quick burst of light, or to signal. It is light, but durable. Even if you're using a 4D standard Mag-Lite (not the MagLED) it is brighter, with better runtime.
Many casual shoppers would think that this is a lot for a 2AA light, but don't let first impressions fool you. This is a serious lighting tool for a fraction of the price of comparable lights. It costs more, but you get brighter light, more battery life, and a bulb that will never burn out. In addition, it's made strong, and if something should happen to where you lose it, you're not out a lot. Get it, and I promise you, you will NOT be disappointed.

Very nice indeed Dec 23, 2011
By Stew I bought this flashlight to replace one from Cabela's that was ruined by leaky and swelled batteries (my fault, I recharged them). It's exactly the same, except for the Rayovac name on it instead of Cabela's. The Rayovac price was also half what I paid Cabela's. The Luxeon 3W LED is super bright. I like the fact that standard AA batteries are used. I was used to turning the cap/switch, so I couldn't see deducting points for that. It isn't advertised to be water proof, so I also didn't deduct any points there, either.
If you want a good, bright LED flashlight at a more than reasonable price, then this one is for you.

Nice flashlight, would have prefered another light switch method. Jan 31, 2010

Great light for a low price, body feels solid and the weight is perfect. Would have liked a more "advanced" way to turn it on than letting the battery cap a little loose and tight it to turn the flashlight on.
