5Great headlite  Jan 09, 2010 By Outdoor Doc
This headlight has it all. The best combination to date. I was dubious about the separete battery box but found it to be an advatage. The Remington adjustable straps are very comfortable and the battery box and the headlight itself balance each other out making it a very comfortable combination. Plus the batteries are AA which last longer and are cheaper. As an Ear Nose and throat physician I have a very expensive and complicated headlight which is inferior to the Remington. I have started using the Remington for throat exams. I have nothing but praise for this light. I bought four of them as Christmas gifts for sons.

5Awesome  Apr 28, 2010 By Brian Deviney
I bought one of these at Lowes a couple years ago. I was put off a bit by the price but it was the only model I could find that used AA batteries and I have a large collection of rechargeable AA's. I bought it for night fishing purposes but quickly found myself using it for everyday tasks ranging from artwork to cleaning or reading a book at night in bed. It's amazing for a range of activities due to the various light modes and diffusers so you can adjust it for any situation. Plus it's great for camping and fishing. It has a pretty long battery life and if you use lithium batteries it'll last for a week or two.

5Excellent Headlight  Oct 06, 2010 By Keegan P Crawley
Extremely bright and lightweight. The red LED is brighter than any I've seen on other lights plus it has the blood tracking light. Best price for the amount of light and options around. Couldn't be happier.

5The BEST and MOST USEFUL Light I Have Ever Owned  Nov 11, 2010 By Michael M.
Update 02/06/11: I mounted one of these on my road bike. Absolutely fantastic light. I use the flashing red light at times, when in traffic and I want people coming toward me on city streets to see me. I use the headlight to see where I am going on dark roads, such as San Francisco Crissy Field Road.

I simply took a Velcro strap and wrapped it around the headlight bracket. Works perfect.

And I put the battery compartment into a small cell phone case, that I mounted on to the bike's top bar.

Update: I posted some images so you can see what this light is all about.

Anyway, I bought four, one for around the house, one for the car and two as gifts.

These are fantastic lights because they are so versatile. And the 3 watt bulb is so bright that it's like looking at the sun during the brightest day.

Main Features:

-- White Light - Super bright 3 watt "bulb" with two brightness adjustments.

-- Red LED light - two bulbs. Great to maintain night vision.

-- Blue LED light - The blood tracker feature (not being a hunter I don't care about this, but you might, so I'll mention it).

-- "Bonus" rear Flashing LED red light - on the battery compartment to provide a flashing light to the rear.

-- Diffuser to provide wide area lighting and narrow beam without diffuser.

-- Water resistance - Battery compartment has rubber gasket assuring moisture (rain) won't get inside. Light is also water resistant. All switches are encased in rubber.

-- Infinitely adjustable for any fit (except maybe a small dog's head. But a Lab? Should fit fine. LOL.

-- Adjustable light mount. You can tilt it all the way up or adjust it all the way down and anything in between.

-- Infinite uses without headband straps. The battery compartment is connected to the light unit with about 22" of heavy duty cable. Uses in this configuration are limitless. E.g., you can mount the battery on a belt or put it into a pocket and carry the lighted head and use it as an extremely powerful flashlight. You could mount it on a bicycle with Velcro straps and/or cable ties.

-- The lighted unit has a nut and bolt that can be tightened if the rotating mechanism becomes loose.

-- Long lasting: With rechargeable batteries, the white light stayed on for about 3 hours on full brightness!

Details:

This light is really handy when working in a space that you need light and don't have a free hand. Simply wear this on your head, swivel the light mount to where you need and you have plenty of light.

Hopefully I never need it in the car, but I can see this being handy to shine a flat tire that's being replaced or looking in the engine compartment to see what's busted.

I am a private pilot too. The red LED light is great for night flying where you are required to use a red light so you don't lose your night vision.

This is really a well thought out device too. The plastic diffuser lens works great. Simply slide it over the red or white beams and the light spreads out (diffuses) over a wide area. Slide it out of the way if you need a strong, directed beam.

I have had other headband lights, so I can compare this with those. Suffice it to say, the Remington name on this light is a testament to the quality, from the elastic head bands to the plastic used on the light and battery compartment.

Oh, it comes with AA ALKALINE batteries. The batteries are inside the battery compartment. They are NOT rechargeable batteries, so don't try recharging them, you may start a fire or the batteries could explode. (If there's a fault with this device, it's that it does not come with instructions nor is there any indication on how to access the battery compartment.

You need to open the battery compartment to remove a protective plastic shield that Remington places over the battery ends to prevent premature battery wear. (See images I posted with this product.)

You need to twist the top part of the battery compartment to access the batteries. Interestingly, the purchaser has to figure this out because there's no instructions included with the device.

Bottom line: This is a fantastic, quality light setup. It has a large range of uses and functionality. It's well made, not like a lot of those el cheapo headlamps that you see on eBay for $10 to $20. Yes, this is far more expensive than similar devices, but IMHO this proves accurate the axiom that "you get what you pay for."

For example, since this will be used on one's head, Remington knew that the straps would come in contact with some users' oily or sweating hair or both (I know, yuck). To address this, the web straps are constructed of thick elastic and nylon. In comparison, the el cheapo headlamps I bought on eBay (a few years back) had thin, uncomfortable headbands that I am wary to wear because the straps might break and snap my ear off, so to speak.

It's a fact of life that using quality materials will make a product more expensive. Sure, you can get these kinds of devices for a lot less money. But be prepared to be disappointed in both the feel and performance of such products. Get this Remington headlamp and instead be prepared to be impressed.

5Best Light on the Market.....  Apr 12, 2011 By T. Smith "motordar"
After trying 4 different head lights...this one is the best. Comes with lifetime warranty and I did take advantage of this. Sent product to manufacturer and received a replacement 8 days later with no questions asked. This light is bright and the light diffuser (spreads light wide) is a big plus when pin point lighting is not needed. I purchased an extra light and gave it as a gift to my friend who says he can't live without it now that he's been using it and is hooked. This light is used on a daily basis loading and unloading in the dark and I no longer have a need for electric lighting. Thanks for reading.
